Valeria Chambers and CJ Ghanny on Fox 25 Tonight!

Tonight, Oct 10, at 6:45pm, the Transformation Center’s own Valeria Chambers, Community Voice Policy and Research Coordinator, will be shown talking with Crystal Haynes, reporter, of Fox 25 News.  The interview is regarding a conference at Mass General Hospital this evening, on mental health resources for African Americans.  The conference is closed with a waitlist.  Valeria and CJ Ghanny will be on Fox 25 again tonight at 10pm and 11pm.  Thanks to Crystal Haynes, her camera man and Fox 25 for airing news on this important topic.

Research on Involuntary Psychiatric Hospitalization

Have you experienced involuntary psychiatric hospitalization?  Research participants are needed (between the ages of 18 and 35) – compensation is provided.  If you have experienced involuntary psychiatric hospitalization in Massachusetts in the past 10 years, you may be eligible to participate in this study.

Change Anything: Peer Support Meeting

Milbury: Screening: 55 Steps

“55 Steps” is a film based on the true story about Eleanor Riese, someone within a psychiatric unit of a hospital, and her lawyer, Colette Hughes, as they fight for improving legal rights for people within hospitals.  For more information, you can preview the trailer here

For this full screening, we will have the film writer Mark Rosin and the patients’ rights lawyer, Colette Hughes!  After the film we will have time for a panel and questions and answers with our wonderful guests.

This is a free screening for the purpose of community education and conversation; there is no fee at the door.  There will be snacks sold at the theatre.

Holyoke Recovery Out Loud

Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, 11am-2pm

The purpose of Recovery Out Loud is to bring ideas and the experience of mental health peer support to  those from many backgrounds.  We share the richness of our lived experiences, learn with and from each other, and connect with one another through peer support.  Lunch will be provided by the Springfield Recovery Center.
