Mental Health and Trauma Services / Treatments
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Resources in Massachusetts and Beyond
DBT and the tools that it provides can be thought of as basic life skills that many of us wish we were taught a long time ago, but now are accessible through these teachings.
DBT combines cognitive and behavioral therapy and eastern mindfulness teachings. The teachings focus on mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. It has proven to be an excellent treatment for many people struggling with self-harm and extreme emotional states. It is meant to be non-pathologizing and today the skills/tolls are taught in group/class format as well as in individual therapy to people with various diagnosis and mental health struggles.
